I actually really like these “Sequined Party Shorts” from Lindsay Lohan’s 6126 Collection ($88 at edressme.com). They’re very holiday-party-in-NYC, BUT they could go terribly wrong if not worn the right way, which is as THE statement piece of the outfit:

1. pair with black opaque tights

2. no stilettos — wear with ankle booties or possibly over-the-knee boots, ideally in suede (the matte effect balances the sequin sparkle).

3. no sequins anywhere else

4. a simple black fitted turtleneck or basic white blouse is the perfect topper

5. keep jewelry simple — perhaps just a fab cocktail ring
