Today I coincidently mixed prints - and was graciously called out for having amazing style. To give you a bit of a rundown I'm wearing a striped dress, gray cardi belted with a vintage brown belt - and my mixing occurred because my winter jacket - is a hounds tooth. I didn't think I looked foolish enough to change my dress to a soild (it's really a tunic so I'm wearing it with leggings and riding boots), but I didn't think anyone else would notice either. Here are some pics via Refinery 29. I wore this look on Halloween. I wore a thick striped skirt, with a thin striped shirt. It worked and looked totally cute and nautical. I also like the idea of mixing patterns. One should be neutral and the other bright. Make sure the patterns are similar in size and over all form. See how they both evoke watercolor? I've never been a fan of runway jeans. They just seem pretentious and out of context. That being said I didn't post the picture from Refinery 29 of runway jean looks they hard, because I hate them. I love my skinny jeans and wide leg jeans and my heart beats fondly for bell bottoms. Everyone thought flares would go out of style, same with bell bottoms and wide leg jeans. Anyone remember Lee Pipes? My mom would never let me get them because she thought they were 'trashy'. I've become less of a jeans girl in recent years. I used to have an obsession with all things jeans. I was like a crack addict for any pair that cost over $200.
