grimms at home: a friendly update

These past few months have been extremely exciting and eventful for us. It's rare that we have a weekend in Rochester with no plans - or a weekend without a wedding! Everything in our new home is slowly coming together. I loved the building process and liked having the control of being able to pick out every last detail. As for decorating, I can't get it done fast enough. Those that know me well, can attest to the fact that patience is not a virtue I strongly possess. And for those that follow me on Instagram , you know everything is monogrammed. I haven't shared too much about the house, but until I fully decorate everything here are a few iPhone snapshots. There is a "sod shortage" in Minnesota, so hopefully we will have a green yard for Henry Ann by fall. It's so cute to hear, our incredibly friendly neighbors and their kiddos, walk by and say,"Wooowwwww, look at the yellow door!" It's been such a fun process and after renting an older ...

{for the boys} easy.

While dressing myself is where I have the most fun, I love it when Adam asks me for advice on his wardrobe. Sometimes I give him a big fat "OH NO NO NO", but recently he has really impressed me with his fashion choices. On the left is an exact representation of this style outside of The Mayo Clinic {where he is suit and tie man, or in scrubs}. He recently joined Trunk Club  and I was so thrilled with the choices {his gorgeous} stylist picked for him! It was a great investment for him, especially for shirts that can be worn in regular rotation. The outfit on the right is also pretty close to what he would wear on date night, or for a nicer dinner; however, I don't think I could ever get him to put on those Cole Haans. I've seen them on guys around Rochester and I think they look so sleek! When helping your man get dressed remember to keep it simple, a nice watch, a pair of dark - clean cut jeans, a simple and trendy watch, and practical and fun shoes are all reall...

What I'm Buying: Deepa Gurnani

Every morning when I wake up I know that I will get to look at beautiful things. A blessing and a curse because even with an amazing employee discount they still cost money, funny how that works. I don't talk too much about my job on here, many of you might know it's at a high-end beauty boutique and I do sales and marketing {aka the rainmaker}, but I also do the accessory buying. I absolutely love it. While searching for a line of affordable, but luxe headbands I came upon Deepa Gurnani. I have loved working with this small company and my clients adore the hand beaded headbands. They really make a statement. They can be worn so many ways - hair up, hair down, boho, preppy, but always glam! If you would like to play an order email me at info@aboutfacrochester.com for free shipping and a tax free sale!  xo  m

{unique} updates

I have several pieces from IKEA from my college days. I've held onto a dresser, large chair, and giant ottoman. The dresser has seen better days, and after graduation the fabrics on my furniture are past their warm welcome. After seeing a friend like this post on Facebook {thanks Chelsea} I had to share. My recent posts about "interior design" have thrown me into uncharted territory, but as we watch parts of our home come together. {FYI: I ignore the basement and 3rd for loft as part of our living space, and am concentrating on the living room and dining room, since we spend most of our time here.} I consider myself very in tune with trends, fashion, and all hip trends on the interwebs - this one - I missed. via I beg of you to read this article if you have IKEA furniture that is waiting for a new life. If you're like me spending $1,500 on a chair feels ostentatious at this point in my life.

{illustrated} by monica of classy & fabulous

Thank you so much to  Monica  for bringing me to life on paper! I never knew I could look so good!  Monica of Classy & Fabulous  is such an amazing artist and when she asked if I would like an illustration I almost screamed! I sent her a photo of me in one of my favorite outfits {leather skirt, classic blazer, and spike the punch necklace} and I received this in my email last night! I'm SO in love! I definitely plan on having her do a custom wedding sketch for me! How fun!?  Even better - her shop offers gift cards - such a fun and unique present to give to a fashionista friend or bride-to-be!  Please check out Monica's Etsy store for more of her beautiful art work:  Classy & Fabulous

{nina's picks} SS13

I love Nina Garcia and Moda Operandi. I was, at first, baffled by this website. The team gives you trunk shows of designer wear straight from the runway. It curates the best of the best, meaning that my favorite runway shows, can come to life in my own closet {if only I had a disposable income...right?}. I love the Marc Jacobs dress above, so decadent! Check out the striped dress Nina picked here.  Those ODLR pumps leave me speechless. How amazing would they look with a tan? They are also AMAZING in nude !  image via

{socialICE}

Meet me downtown at the Peace Plaza from 4:30 - 9:00 pm!!!!! Last night was so fun!

social ice. what to wear.

Rochester, Minnesota's socialICE is approaching fast and furiously! I've been thinking about what I will wear to this event, I've been helping with for a few months! I want to make sure I'm warm, but obviously still stylish.  A long, black, down coat might not be the most style savvy choice, but when you're in the Mid-west and it's negative 10 degrees with a windchill of below 35 you will be glad you're wrapped delicately in this bundle of joy. It's a a great investment piece.  To make this ensemble cute, take a cue from me, and find a cute hat. How amazing is that slouchy Missoni number, I might have to click buy, just for this occasion!  I can picture it now: flushed cheeks, sparking eyes, my brunette curls bouncing, and that amazing hat! Your hands and feet are the most emportant part of this ensemble . Read: SNOW and ICE goblets! Listen to me now - wear wool socks and leather/waterproof gloves. Keep your jeans skinny and dark and a...

{the in crowd} socialICE

I'm all about activities. Going out for drink with friends, sifting through an antique store, finding the fun in life's big mysteries. I've been working with a wonderful group of ladies my age, to put together PR and Marketing for socialICE. This event is going to be huge, and if you are in the Rochester, Minnesota vicinity I strongly suggest you check it out. It's three days of stunning drinks, amazing music, and ambience unlike any other in the Mid-west's biggest OUTDOOR ice bar! Stay tuned for other great bloggers joining in on the fun...and also...some outfit posts of what to wear to this style savvy event! The Rochester Downtown Alliance is pleased to announce the 4th Annual SocialICE—Rochester Minnesota’s Ice Bar event is scheduled for Feb. 9 th , 10 th , and 11th, 2012. Featuring over 200 ft. of ice, SocialICE will be once again the largest outdoor ice bar in the upper Midwest. The layout will expand this year and will include up to eight satel...

STYLE Week Spotlight: EYE-Q

Stud. STUDLY.  First, let me apologize for the grainy picture above. It's via my iPhone from Glamour Magazine. That being said, I know you are all rolling those beautiful eyes of yours, really Molly? A boy? Another one? Can you stop drooling for five seconds? Second, I know this boy and he's the perfect segue into the satorical  scrumptiousness you will see below. His name is Sam, and well he's my BFF Cait's, Boyfriend's, Little Brother (get it?).  He looks so handsome in glasses, and while I've always thought a pair would make me look hideous I was quite surprised to learn I have the perfect face for them.  Tammy, from EYE-Q Intelligent Eyewear , told me my eyes are the equivalent of a perfect rack - they fill out everything. Tammy and her beautiful store, EYE-Q  are everything fabulous and fashionable! Bright, inviting and stylish I might just need a new pair of frames each week.  Tammy showed me some of t...
