Siding With Plato by Michelle Manning

I don't typically write book reviews, one thing you might not know about me is that I LOVE to read. A compelling story, in any format really, can make my day. P.S. if you don't have the This American Life NPR app downloaded - do so NOW! Back to books. I knew one of my bests from college was working on penning her first novel, I had no idea just how much blood, sweat and tears (mostly tears) were put into "Siding With Plato". From the flip of the first page I adored Brooke Aarons, the main character. In fact - she reminds me entirely of a beautiful friend I know, as do the rest of th characters.  Michelle does a fantastic job of taking the reader through Brooke's bright eyed viewpoint. It's the college experience you never had (but I certainly did). The parties, boys, ridiculous sorority girls - lived it, loved it, and I promise you will be entertained by "Siding With Plato" from start to finish. It will make you so thankful for you girlfriends and ev

Wedding Day Beauty: Milwaukee The Beauty Dept.

As many of you know I'm getting married next May. I'm in the process of finalizing the details, one of them is making sure I have the best of the best when it comes to my hair and makeup. I'll be the first to say it, "My name is Molly and I'm vain." If you've been a bride or are a bride-to-be I'm guessing you feel the same way I do. I want to look like the very best version of myself on my wedding day: highlighted cheekbones, flowing hair {good enough to be on a Victoria's Secret model}, and perfect skin. Enter: The Beauty Department. Gina Barrington and Maggie Kerr are certifiably the best around - they are based out of Milwaukee, but regardless of where you live - their work is a must-see. I knew that I had to work with them on my wedding day. I have previously worked with Gina on a Made In Milwaukee fashion show {it was a month after Adam and I started dating and I was smitten with him} and her eye for aesthetics is impeccable.

most wanted: fancy face

This is one of those things where want is the imperative word. Do I need sunglasses? NO. Do I want these fiercely chic House of Harlow  sunnies - a resounding YES! I am usually a simple Ray-Ban aviator  gal, they go with everything and are timeless; however, when I need to dress it up a bit these babies would do the trick. Here are a few other cat eye frames to tickle your fancy face:

Tuesday's Top Picks

This Tuesday it's all about my summer staple: the maxi dress.  My Maxi Dress Rules: Always wear with FLAT sandals Keep it simple Don't show straps - invest in a good strapless bra Find the correct length {I prefer mine long - floor skimming} Check the dress for opacity {the material can often be flimsy and see through} BE BRONZED {hello spray tan!} If you're wearing a busy print - only wear stud earrings

{printed pants} karen kane.

When Karen Kane  sent me this beauty gauzy pants {I suggest ordering a size up} I immediately played with ways to style them. I'm 5'9" so for a night out I need to pair them with a lower wedge. For day simple nude or cognac sandals with a denim shirt do the trick. Honestly, they are like wearing your PJ's, but you look chic. Take a cue from Elizabeth  from Unabashedly Uncorked  - I mean she looks AMAZING!                           image via  unabashedlyuncorked Unfortunately the pants I have are sold out, but  Karen Kane  has some fantastic alternative options. They are so extremely affordable and I'm guessing just as comfy! Coming later this week my style suggestions for this BEAUTIFUL Karen Kane Draped Top . It's perfect for work and play!
