caged in.

If you follow me on Instagram  you've seen these flats pop up numerous times. I own them in nude and red, and to be 100% transparent just purchased a replacement nude pair. While they aren't the gorgeous $900 Valentino Rockstud Cage Flats , I could care less, I bought them because I LOVE the style. I wish I could make myself spend $900 on shoes; however, at this point traveling, decorating my new home and investing in my future are more important. I can't have it all! Those of you with Rockstuds : Yes, I'm jealous. If you'd like the link to these shoes, they are so comfy, follow me on Instagram and send me a direct message -  @McKerihan . Please note: I know there are many that have very strong opinions about knockoffs. These shoes do not bare the Valentino tag, nor do they replicate the exact design. They are simply 'inspired by'. If you're wearing anything from Forever 21, Old Navy, Gap, even lower priced brands from Nordstrom chances are your

It's little.

Lately, life has been about the little things. I find myself being content with a good book and glass of wine. I also am extremely homesick for my three best friends - a good thing! Gals like that are hard to find and the definition of "once in a lifetime" friendships. The little things:  Kaela and I share a love of Taylor Swift (call us basic - we still have better style). Only kidding, but when I was in a crunch for some sustenance and Swifty showed up on my Diet Coke I knew KB was the only one who would appreciate it...especially since our texting spree about how great "1989" is the night before. Our front hallway was SO colorful. I wanted neutral and I wanted gold. It looks a bit different as opposed to the pic above, I added two more Kate Spade white vases. To shake things up I added several new pieces: a rug, antler photo, and gold accent "spike thing" for under $50. Happy happy me!  I know I'm vain, but I am als

Boot Up.

I adore Miranda Kerr. Her style is, as I'm sure you've heard a million times, effortless. One of my favorite looks for fall is a slight cuffed jean and booties. Whether flat or with a stacked heel it's so easy to pull together. Throw on a white tee, Vince makes my favorite, a classic blazer, a fun scarf and boots! Dolce Vita makes some great affordable options. The DV by Dolce Vita Cassidy boots are on my MUST HAVE list!  I love mine and they are so comfy. If you're looking for chic and incredibly affordable jeans Old Navy  is having a MAJOR sale through tomorrow. I absolutely love their Rockstar Jeans - and they have some pretty adorable tops and blazers on sale!  Some other favorite booties below!  JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reflections of...

I had a drink with a girlfriend last night and we got on the topic of people not being content with themselves. Always wanting and needing to change, possibly for the wrong reasons. It's not my place nor intent to judge; however, the reality is I'm probably guilty of doing it too. Comparing myself to someone thinner than I am, getting too wrapped up in what someone thinks of me, or convincing myself that maybe I'm just not quite good enough. It's human nature to want to be loved and liked. Sometimes it takes a pep talk in the mirror, but just so you know - I love you just the way you are!  “There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”  ―  Steve Maraboli ,  Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

for what it's worth.

Sometimes we all need to remember that life is what you make of it. It's good to be scared, to take risks, to be who you are - and be unashamed of it. Cheers to living a life you love!  via

September + October: In Photos

The last month (and almost a half) has gone by so quickly. Today marks five months since our wedding day. Where did the time go? Above are a few snapshots from my adventures: I turned 28, we went up to Clam Lake with a bunch of friends for Labor Day, I've developed a rather large obsession with rose, Adam and I celebrated Oktoberfest with an outdoor beer tasting in Rochester, Henry Ann keeps growing, I went to see Rent with my gorgeous girlfriends, snapped a few outfit selfies along the way,  and I tried to make my office a little less gray against the gray carpet, blinds and cabinets. Right now I'm on a flight to Phoenix with A. One of my dear friends from college is marrying the love of her life, also a college friend, and I can't wait to celebrate such a beautiful couple and see so many faces I've missed so much! This is our last wedding of the season, it's been so fun I don't want it to end. I know this weekend will be a walk d

It's not about the price tag.

I'm a firm believer in the notion that's it's NOT about the price, but how you wear it. I wore this lovely little number to a dear friend's BBQ. I was comfortable, felt confident and spent the night enjoying an awesome bottle of Pinot Grigio, amazing food and even better company. Shoes // Old Nacy Jeans // Old Navy Rockstar (try them on - I swear you will love them) Top // Lillian's  However, I am not opposed to spending $27 on Nars Lipstick. This color is Heat Wave and I'm a die hard fan girl. My little gem of a necklace is from Francesca's.  Not the greatest photo, but I was pulling clothes for the #styleontheplaza look book and I started going crazy over this coat. I didn't want to look at the price tag - I was expecting it to cost $300+. Let's just say I did a victory dance, $99 my friends! Expect to see it this fall (on my person)!  A casual Friday look from work. Blouse is from h&m and jeans are Mother. I also love my Cate Katan necklace. M

in lust with: for love & lemons

There are certain brands that I am instantly drawn to. There is not really an explanation or a common sense factor, these aren't brands I would purchase from regularly, nor are they brands that represent pieces of clothing I already own; however, I become like a moth to a flame. Over the last few months I've been having a love affair with For Love & Lemons. Their pieces are dreamy, airy, romantic and slightly resemble lingerie. I don't know what it is about the pieces, but I dream about wearing them. While they do make beautiful underpinnings, their dresses are so beautiful. I don't know that many of them would work for my body type {curse of the bust}, but I know my legs would look amazing {on the bright side}. I also don't dress overly sexy, so again I'm not sure where this obsession is coming from! Most of their dresses are under $200 and a few are in the $300 range. I'm all for wearing white year round {I hope you got that from my jeans post}, so

what i'm wearing: gold and cognac

I could tell you that my love for gold and cognac was just a phase, y'all it's here to stay. I recently purchased the Tory Burch York Tote in Luggage , with gorgeous gold details. The price point was fantastic and it was just the bad I needed to put all of my work files in. I can carry my portfolio, several client folders, an iPad, my GiGi New York Clutch and my giant pouch of Nars lipstick  - I've been wearing Carthage a lot. It's a beautiful hot pink matte lipstick. The best part it doesn't budge! Below you will find some pieces I'm loving in gold and cognac. I love the rich buttery brown paired with the beauty of gold accents! Peptide Promises.

I started my Radical Skincare j ourney by using their amazing Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads before my wedding. I've had them for several months and they are worth the investment. I know $75 seems steep, but they are proven to reduce the look of pores and even crows feet! My pores were smaller and my skin was tighter.  A few weeks ago I received Radical Skincare's Peptide Infused Antioxidant Serum. At $190 a bottle this a product, that at 27, I would normally put on my WANT not NEED list. Since I've started using it my skin has improved significantly. I've noticed places where my skin used to me tight a plump are starting to look renewed. I will say that the skin I had at 25 is definitely not the skin I have at 27 {almost 28} and this serum is helping to repair damage and keep my skin looking youthful. Having a glow year round is important to me, but with my job and busy weekends I can't be a sun goddess like I used to. I stick to spray tans and rely on the

coveting: coral skort

Summer is winding it's way down...please don't go! However, I keep seeing this lovely outfit on the internet and I just love it! I adore the way her dressing room is set up too - so cute! Now I just need a tan!  Diamond Textured Coral Skort // $72 // TOPSHOP Photo / /  emphasis added

style staple: white jeans

White Jeans are a style staple of mine year round. They look great in the summer with sandals and simple tank or in the fall with cognac boots and a chunky sweater. This winter I'm looking forward to wearing a white-on-white outfit. One of my best friend's LJ has rocked this look in cooler months and she looks amazing. I personally alternate between two pairs of trusty white jeans. I didn't want to invest a ton of money in jeans that had holes in them (for hopefully obvious reasons) so I picked up a pair on major sale at Old Navy. Their Rockstar Jeans fit me like a dream. For casual Fridays at work or when distressed jeans are appropriate I have a pair from Mother that are amazing. they are so flattering and surprisingly slimming! I picked them up when Adam and I were in Seattle and I ended up wearing them the whole weekend. One of my favorite places to shop for jeans is Shopbop. I love supporting a company that was born and bred in Wisconsin. How many of you knew that? Ano

#adamlovesmolly: decor in the tent.

It's a definite #tbt that is for sure! I promised showing decor from my wedding a while ago, and well here you are my dears! My vision for out day was a garden party of sorts. I wanted classic elements, mixed with pieces that were unique and added a touch of modern - like out chevron placemats, chalkboard doors and chalkboard printable table numbers.  TIP: If you're looking to save big bucks on table numbers, Etsy is the answer. I was going to spend over $300 on gold glitter table numbers; however, I was able to find printables that were about $5 for 20 numbers! They worked perfectly into our decor.  My vision was completely brought to fruition by T he Eventful Life . Jess and Steph were amazing to work with. I didn't have to worry about a single thing, the two of them were on point before, during and even AFTER the wedding! We had the best experience working with them.  EXPERIENCE: I wanted to put most of my budget into t

MGD: 9th and Elm

" 9th & Elm was founded by Clay and Elly Bethune in the spring of 2013 with a mission to bring it's members fabulous fashion from the best handmade and independent designers. We realize it is extremely difficult to sort through and discover handmade fashion geared towards the "fashionista". Search no longer. I've said it in many a blog post before, but I absolutely love monograms. As you can see in the picture below I've added a ring to my finger and a new last name to my dossier, hence the need for a new monogram necklace. I was thrilled to see that  9th & Elm  had just what I was looking for, for an insanely reasonable price! I've been wanting a gold block monogram necklace for quite some time now!  I currently love this gold monogram
