Does the Prince Have a Last Name?

Do you ever get those twinges when you're calling asleep at night? Questions that go through your head over and over and over again, but just don't really amount to any value? I'm the epitome of this jedi mind trick and it can keep me awake for hours on end. Thankfully technology is my best friend and I usually have my iPhone on standby for when I can't crack the code myself. Sunday's question of the hour was

"What will Kate Middleton's last name be when she marries Prince William? Does he even have a last name? Is his full name just Prince William...? So, will she just be princess Kate?"

Oooof - I know the work of a real Einstein. All of this was summoned by my poor decision so watch some tell-all, know-all show on TLC about their impending nuptials.

To answer: William has no official last name (weird). Apparently being royal and all this is 'prototypical';his official name is William Arthur Philip Louis otherwise known as Prince William of Wales. Apparently Kate (Catherine) will become The Princess William of Wales. If the queen makes William a Duke then Kate will become a Duchess. OR Her Royal Highness Princess William... Right? Whatever? I don't really care about the royal wedding, but I do love Kate as a society figure and fashion icon.
