Brilliant Bodywork. A Lash-tastic Love Story.

I'm hands down obsessed with my grooming. An astray hair? No thank you! A pimple? You must be kidding me! Sparse, short and crooked eyelashes? I know just what this beauty maven needs! On this lovely Spring morning, I headed over to see Stephanie at my favorite spa Brilliant Bodywork, located in La Crosse, WI.

Stephanie uses Xtreme Lashes (which you've heard me talk about before). The best of the best! The process may seem a little quirky, but is so worth it. I've been getting my lashes done at Brilliant Bodywork for months and each time the procedure is relaxing and revitalizing. After laying down on the comfiest spa bed ever, you've given a warm neck pillow infused with lavender (so yummy). Gel pads are place under your eyes and each lash is applied one by one by Stephanie. The process takes about two hours for your first application. It's the perfect setting for a taking a nap, or if you're like me it gives you plenty of time to chat away with your Xtreme Lashes stylist about beauty trends and skincare!

Your lashes stylist will only apply lashes that your natural lash can support. This is to ensure you get the full wear of your lash extensions.

So now we're going to get a little personal! Above you'll see my before and after pictures. The orange arrow points to my thin and hopeless lashes - notice how lush and shiny my extended lashes appear in the picture below. Stephanie used the "Thicks" on my lashes in lengths 9-12cm. Adding thickness and length to my eyes. I won't even need to put on mascara and I don't run the risk of pulling out my lashes, since Xtreme Lashes shed with my natural lashes (this process is normal - each eyelash typically lives for 150 days). During the next 48 hours I'll take extra special care to my lashes to ensure they last as long as possible (Note: I typically get a fill every 2-3 weeks).

As I left Brilliant Bodywork I was given an Xtreme Lashes aftercare pamphlet. For the next 48 hours I won't:

  • Wet my eyelashes (FYI: Take a bath and don't shower)
  • Sauna
  • Avoided sweating (stick to yoga or pilates vs. cardio)
  • Put on excessive eye makeup (normally a little mascara or eyeliner is ok  - as long as it's oil free)
  • Rub or irritate my eyes
  • Tint my lashes or wax my eyebrows
  • Cry (haha - just kidding the pamphlet doesn't say this!)
You might be wondering:

  • Does it hurt? NO.
  • Is it worth it? YES. I'm so much more confident.
  • Have you had an allergic reactions? NO. And I have VERY sensitive skin.
  • Do you notice the lashes falling off? NO. Do you notice your regular lashes falling off  (not really).
  • Can you feel the lashes? NOPE! So lightweight.
  • Can you swim with them on? YES! Just make sure to wait 48 for the adhesive to properly bond.

Florsheim Shoes {closed}

Thank you to all that entered and congrats to EMMA for winning!  xo You know when you first meet a handsome boy, in my case it was a bar, and everything about him is near perfect. His chiseled features, dark shiny hair, and stunning light blue eyes. Then you look down, and gasp, he's wearing sneakers. Not your run of the mill, fashion forward footwear, but we are talking Nike, Adidas, etc. running shoes. He's wearing them in a bar, with jeans, and a polo. If you're anything like me, the only times tennis shoes are acceptable are on the elliptical machine or running a half marathon. This boy turned out to be the love of my life, and with little resistance I was able to turn him into my fashionable sidekick. With a little help from  Florsheim  you can take your Valentine from sorry to sexy with a pair of shoes courtesy of this luxury brand. I've put together some inspirational looks for you. Just remember, you may not able to c...

Zo chic.

caged in.

If you follow me on Instagram  you've seen these flats pop up numerous times. I own them in nude and red, and to be 100% transparent just purchased a replacement nude pair. While they aren't the gorgeous $900 Valentino Rockstud Cage Flats , I could care less, I bought them because I LOVE the style. I wish I could make myself spend $900 on shoes; however, at this point traveling, decorating my new home and investing in my future are more important. I can't have it all! Those of you with Rockstuds : Yes, I'm jealous. If you'd like the link to these shoes, they are so comfy, follow me on Instagram and send me a direct message -  @McKerihan . Please note: I know there are many that have very strong opinions about knockoffs. These shoes do not bare the Valentino tag, nor do they replicate the exact design. They are simply 'inspired by'. If you're wearing anything from Forever 21, Old Navy, Gap, even lower priced brands from Nordstrom chances are your...
