If you accomplish all five, be prepared to shoot to celebrity status. But what is the point of having followers? Or being followed? Or creating a Twitter?
Obviously for businesses and celebrities, Twitter is another way for them to connect and stay in touch with their customers. Justin Bieber’s movie, Never Say Never, got promoted for free because of his Tweets, his followers’ Tweets, and their constant re-tweets. Businesses can also use Promoted Tweets so that they appear at the top of feeds and trends.
But let’s focus on You. Why should You create another username and password? Twitter is constantly being updated with developments of the latest news stories, much faster than television can report it and certainly quicker than print media can spit it out, allowing you to be up to date with current events. Twitter also has a search bar so you can follow technology trends, celeb gossip, and your close friends. Or say you want a quick opinion on something; Tweet it! Twitter never sleeps, and since it is a global phenomenon you will get a variety of feedback.
Even busy people have time to type a few characters from the app on their smartphone, their desktop, or laptop . Twitter can be compared to constantly updating your status on Facebook, only its expected that you share how delicious your orange was or the funky smell coming from your boss.
So now that I have convinced you to create a Twitter account, you should know a few basics. Twitter allows you 140 characters for each of your Tweets. Since links make popular Tweets, you can enter the long URL at tinyurl.com and it will shorten the link so it can fit with a comment into the character requirement. Finally, there are hashtags. Hashtags allow you to categorize your tweet. For instance, #breakuptexts, is a trend worldwide right now. If you have a funny breakup text start it with #breakuptexts so it can be streamed with other inconsiderate heartbreaking texts.
You are ready to become a Tweeter!
