Social Media and your clients.

Social Media is your Friend.

I love my job, but I often find myself frustrated at the lack of social media integration in the La Crosse area. It’s basically free to tweet, facebook stalk and blog. It takes time, and time is value-able, but an extra hour here and there could put more cash in the pockets of locally owned and operated businesses. So, why aren’t people in small towns using technology to join forces and unite?  I have my theories, but I can’t seem to win them over.  I know these people are intelligent, they run money making businesses, make livings to support their families and keep employees in line. So…why can’t they just ask me for help? Confusion is often the biggest reason for fear. We tend to shy away from what we don’t understand. In the Coulee Region – social media is the monster hiding under our beds.

How can I make it less scary? Should I create a daily log of activities to garner client interaction? Why wouldn’t a business owner want to interact with customers and potential customers? My biggest inspiration for a do-good social media savvy company is Xtreme Lashes. Twitter, Facebook, blogging, their website and even a virtual newspaper. You tweet them, they respond. They treat their clients like royalty. Their products are flawless and they are very ready to show you their appreciation.

Take a look at their social media initiative for ways to amp up the conversation with your clients. Once you take the time to learn social media tools are insanely valuable.

This was said in a team meeting today: having a Facebook page (or any form of social media for that matter) that is NOT kept current, is not worth having. It's hurting your businesses - as opposed to helping it. It basically is a giant sign across your window that's saying "CLOSED". People want to know deals instantly, be able to ask questions frequently, and the level of your online presence coincides directly with how credible you are as a business.
